Sony is about to announce the launch its high-end Smartphone Xperia ZR - a younger sibling to Xperia Z. This latest of the Sony flagships is already up for pre-order on popular ecommerce website Infibeam.com.

Sony, the globally well acclaimed electronics brand is about to launch its high-end Smartphones Sony Xperia ZR after the successful launch of Xperia Z and Xperia ZL in India. In fact, Xperia ZR is like a younger sibling of Xperia Z, it features many of the Z functions but is more compact in design. This new Smartphone is expected to be released by Sony by 15th June this year.

The sleek model of Xperia ZR also features a water-proof and dust-resistant screen but Sony has gone bit further with this model and is advertising that the phone can be in fact used under water. It flaunts a 13 MP camera with full HD videos shooting so the user can capture under water video easily with a dedicated shutter button. There is also a front facing VGA camera that will support video calling. The camera also has some additional features like Autofocus, Sony Exmor RS for mobile image sensor.

The Xperia ZR adorns a 4.55 inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It has a BRAVIA Engine 2 and OptiContrast panel which adds to the clarity of everything that you see on the screen. The image quality is fantastic on the new Xperia ZR. Other striking specifications include Android 4.1 JellyBean and 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 processor. It has 2 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory that is expandable with a microSD card.
